About General Transmission

General Transmission Repair is a family-owned, locally operated auto repair business serving Kent & surrounding Seattle Metro area customers since 1988.

Back in 1988, Mark and I lost everything we owned due to a fire in our rented house. We were thinking we'd just rent again, but were encouraged to buy a house, so we did.

Since it was a period of new beginnings, we decided to start our own transmission repair company & run it out of the garage of our new home.

A $10 box of business cards and a yellow pages ad started it all!

We worked hard, grew the business...

We spent 6 years in Kent, then relocated the repair facility to Pacific Highway South, where we grew steadily for another 8 years, making many new friends of our satisfied customers.

Today...

One day, Mark saw a great deal on some commercial real estate. So we made the jump & grabbed it!

The new expanded location is just off of I-5 at exit 149.

We've been there for 11 years & just love the new facility!

We now have 9 lifts, and our crew runs 10 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Mark and I made a decision a long time ago to be fair & honest with our customers, because that's just how we like to be treated. It's made all the difference.

The last 23 years of living through the ups & downs of owning a small business while raising 3 children has taught us a lot.

We've not only kept our heads above water, we feel we thrived here in the Pacific Northwest thanks to the generous support of our neighbors & clients.

Our commitment to our community...

As a repayment to our community, we sponsor soccer teams, donate cars to worthy causes. During the holidays I find time to put together donation baskets of food & other items for the needy.

Our commitment to the environment...

We recycle as much as possible, this includes the scrap metals produced during our service work, as well as used transmission & brake fluids, motor oils & coolants.
